Several decades ago, over 200 lakes and water reservoirs were found in and around Bangalore, hence the name ‘City of Lakes’.
Due to urbanization many of the lakes have disappeared, however, almost 25 lakes still exist and are visited by hundreds of people from around the country every day.

Bangalore International Airport is just 40 kilometers away from the main city, the distance can be covered by bus or taxi in one to two hours (depending upon traffic).
Furthermore, there are two major railway stations in Bangalore: Yeshwantpur junction and Bangalore City Railway station. Trains to various Indian cities are running daily.
Within the city itself, you can get around by Metro rail service. Currently, there are a limited number of lines and stops, but there is a lot of work in progress to extend the routes.
