In November Frank and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Jamahal Private Resort and Spa on Bali. We had such an amazing time there that, even though I usually don’t write hotel posts, I made an exception for this wonderful place…
Jamahal Private Resort and Spa: their philosophy
Jamahal means ‘precious time’ in Sanskrit and everything and every member of the resort staff is focused on making sure your time at the Jamahal is absolutely precious indeed. This luxurious boutique villa resort was established in 2004 and specializes in personalized service and privacy.
This luxury small-scale resort can accommodate up to 14 couples, there average staff / guest ratio is always a minimum of 2 (two staff members per guest).
The resort has a unique and romantic ambiance, all villas are secluded and offer 100% privacy. Staying at the Jamahal is a truly unforgettable experience, especially for couple celebrating something special!
From the heart made of petals on our bed, the bath filled with colorful flowers, the lovely personal note in our villa and the romantic dinner served on our porch, we felt like we were in a blissful bubble…
Jamahal Private Resort and Spa: the food
All meals are served in the privacy of your villa, so you can enjoy a romantic breakfast, lunch or dinner with your beloved. All meals are freshly prepared on site, using only the best ingredients.
For breakfast we could choose between Continental or Asian, but there were so many delicious dishes listed on the menu, we tried a bit of everything…
It’s almost impossible, but if I have to choose a favorite I would go for the signature Eggs Benedict with a crab cake and the wonton noodle soup.
Oh, and after months of the fake yellow cheddar that passes for cheese in Canada and the USA it was such a treat to eat proper cheese, like the soft and gooey brie that was served at the Jamahal…
Dinner was divine as well, with a spicy Tom Kha Gai as a starter, super-soft and well-seasoned Beef Rendang and Saffron Chicken as mains and delicious lemon cheesecake for desert.
The ‘Chef’s Special’ changes every day, but there is also a fixed menu with lots of local and international dishes to choose from.
Jamahal Private Resort and Spa: the villas
There are 14 villas in the Jamahal complex:
- 1 master villa (850m2)
- 2 SPA villas (430m2)
- 3 pool suite villas (131-144m2)
- 7 garden suite villas (101-115m2)
Each villa has it’s own unique design and is beautifully decorated. Within all villas you’ll find air conditioning, an LCD flat screen, a DVD player, a minibar, comfortable slippers and kimonos and luxury organic body care amenities.
Our garden villa: Cempaka
We spent our first night at Jamahal in a beautiful secluded garden villa with a super-soft four-poster bed, outdoor bathroom and private Jacuzzi.
Our pool suite villa: Alamanda
Our second night we slept in a lovely pool suite villa, where we swam under the moonlight in our private pool…
Jamahal Private Resort and Spa: facilities
The main swimming pool is perfect for your morning laps. Or if you prefer to relax along the side, there are comfortable reclining chairs and two large shady lounge-beds. The sound of the waterfall is very soothing, I may or may not have fallen asleep there…
The serene Jamahal Spa offers traditional Balinese and Javanese treatments as well as Indian Ayurveda and Polynesian hot stone massages.
We enjoyed a Balinese full-body massage and it was the best massage I ever had. Afterwards I could barely lift myself from the massage bed, I was utterly relaxed.
If you are feeling like working out, no matter the time of the day, the Jamahal gym is opened 24 hours a day for its guests.
Do not confuse the name beach club with a loud and crowded place, that wouldn’t fit with the Jamahal concept. The Jamahal beach club offers refreshments and snacks and a beautiful view over the ocean. Peaceful and quiet, you’ll find yourself dreaming away at the rushing sound of the waves.
Jamahal Private Resort and Spa: location
The resort is located in Jimbaran, just 15 minutes from the international airport. It’s only 400 meters to the beautiful beach of Jimbaran Bay and a 20 minute ride to Nusa Dua.
While the hotel is situated on the main street where you’ll find many restaurants and shops, once you step through the Jamahal gates you find yourself in a peaceful quiet and green environment.
Altogether we had an amazing stay at Jamahal Private Resort & Spa, an experience we’ll never forget! If you are looking to celebrate something special, like a honeymoon, wedding anniversary or something else, the Jamahal is the place to be!
