Where To Stay In Tokyo: Candeo Hotel Shimbashi Review

Shibuya crossing in Tokyo from above

Tokyo is the world's most populous metropolitan area (36 million people!), a city where century-old history meets ultramodern technology and design.

A city with almost as many vending as residents, the most top-rated restaurants in the world (no less than 14 three-star Michelin restaurants), and the busiest pedestrian crossing on earth (Shibuya Crossing).

It's here, in this amazing city where you can find the 4-star Candeo Shimbashi Hotel, a beautifully designed hotel in downtown Tokyo.

Tokyo: Candeo Hotel Shimbashi review

What does Candeo stand for?

CANDEO means shining brightly in Latin and that is definitely what they do at Candeo. Their welcoming staff will go out of their way to make sure you have a great time at the hotel and in Tokyo.

Candeo Hotels Tokyo Shimbashi is a modern hotel with beautifully decorated rooms and an unbeatable location.

The rooms

There are four types of rooms in the Candeo Hotel Shimbashi:

  • Double rooms (15-17m2)
  • King rooms (17m2)
  • Twin rooms (18 m2)
  • Corner twin rooms (20-22m2)

Rooms are similar in design and amenities, which include air conditioning, a private bathroom with a Japanese toilet (yes one of those fancy ones with lots of buttons), flat-screen TV, high-speed WiFi, a refrigerator, kettle, toiletries, and lots more.

Very typical for Japanese hotels are the slippers which are provided and the Candeo Hotel pajamas, which you can wear after your visit to the fabulous Sky Spa.

The Sky Spa

This is definitely one of the highlights of staying at the Candeo Tokyo Shimbashi hotel! The Sky Spa is located on the 12th floor and is the perfect way to relax after a day of sightseeing in Tokyo.

There are separate baths for men and women. In both spas, you can find both indoor and outdoor baths, a sauna, and shower facilities.

I have visited several Japanese public baths during my trips to Japan and have to say this is the best one so far!

With relaxing music, excellent facilities, and blissfully hot baths you will feel invigorated after a visit to the Sky Spa.

The Sky Spa is open from 15 pm until 11 am, so if you feel like taking a dip at midnight or when you can't sleep from your jet lag you can still enjoy a hot bath.

The Sky Spa can be found on the top floor (12th level) of the hotel.

What about breakfast

Breakfast is another highlight as there are over 60 different foods to choose from.

From fresh fruits to typical Japanese dishes (such as handmade tofu) and from a good cup of coffee to delicious and healthy steamed vegetables, it's all available at the Candeo breakfast buffet.

Breakfast is served from 6.30 am until 10 am on the 11th floor of the hotel.

How to get there

Tokyo is a big city and location is key when planning your visit. The Candeo Hotel Shimbashi is very close to Shimbashi station (both JR as well as MRT) and Ginza neighborhood.

It's only a 5-minute walk from the hotel to the station, which is well connected with the rest of Tokyo and both airports.

From Narita Airport you can take the Keisei Narita Sky Access to Shimbashi station, this will take approximately one hour.

If you land at Haneda Airport you can take the Keikyu Line to Shimbashi Station (approximately 20 minutes). Alternatively, you can take the monorail to Hamamatsuchō and transfer to the JR Yamanote Line (only one stop to Shimbashi Station).

When arriving from Tokyo station, also take the JR Yamanote Line to Shimbashi Station, this only takes 3 minutes!

Planning a trip to Japan? Be sure to get the Japan Railpass to save money and time on transport while traveling in comfort and style.
